Four shoplifters have been jailed during a crackdown by neighbourhood officers in Barry town centre.
South Wales Police is supporting Safer Business Action Week, a national initiative aimed at tackling retail crime and promoting support avaiable to affected businesses.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team in Barry says it's taking a zero tolerance approach "to those who continue to engage in criminal or nuisance behaviour" in order to protect the community and provide a strong deterrent to would-be offenders.
Among the cases highlighted, Sam Camilleri from Barry was jailed for 22 weeks after pleading guilty on 13 counts of shoplifting.
The 47 year-old, who was arrested by a local PCSO, was also banned from certain areas upon his release under a two year criminal behaviour order (CBO).
Meanwhile, two men were caught by facial recognition technology after they stole £120 worth of goods from the petrol station at Morrisons on Halloween.
Police said sufficient evidence was gathered quickly "thanks to strong partnership work between PCSOs and local businesses" against Ryan Creed (27) and Matthew Hatherill (37) were quickly located, arrested and charged.
The pair were both sentenced to four weeks in prison.
Meanwhile, Hannah Hyde (39), also from Barry, was jailed for ten weeks after she admitted shoplfiting at the Tesco store on Barry Road six times.
