Specsavers opticians in Barry are helping keep children safe during their outdoor activities by gifting hi-visibility vests.
Specsavers Barry has donated 30 high-visibility vests to Beavers aged six to eight at 1st Barry Sea Scouts. The donation is part of the store’s ongoing support for local safety awareness and community wellbeing.
The vests were put to immediate use during an outdoor rock pooling session, an activity designed to help children explore and learn about the local coastline.
While hi-visibility clothing is typically associated with the darker winter months, the vests will be useful year-round for group walks, community events and school trips.

Natalie Jones, Beaver leader at 1st Barry Sea Scouts, says: ‘We are incredibly grateful to the team at Specsavers Barry for generously providing our Beavers with the vests.
‘They were put to good use straight away and we’ll continue to use them on our adventures throughout the year.’
Jamie Pullen, ophthalmic director at Specsavers Barry, adds: ‘As a locally owned and run business, we’re always happy to support young people in the community. This donation is about helping them stay seen and safe, whatever the season.’
