Strawberry pickers at a Bonvilston farm have been told to stop eating the fruit before they pay up.
The owners of Vale Pick Your Own say they've noticed a "concerning trend" on social media of customers eating their strawberries while they're being picked in the fields.
A spokesperson for the farm likened it to shoplifting and warned it was having a significant impact on their small family business, especially during a busier time.
They've warned anyone caught eating the strawberries in the fields will be asked to leave the site.
In a statement, they said: "We understand that it might seem harmless, but consuming strawberries before purchasing is equivalent to taking products without paying in a shop or eating without paying in a café."
"We’ve planted enough strawberries to ensure we can stay open six days a week, but unfortunately, we are finding that our fruit is being eaten in the fields, we are running out and then we are having to close."
"To ensure everyone has a fair chance to enjoy our strawberries, we kindly ask that you refrain from eating them before paying. Your cooperation will help us maintain a steady supply for all our lovely customers."
"If we see anyone eating strawberries in the fields, we’ll regrettably have to ask you to leave."
