Detectives are hunting a group of males who attacked a teenage boy at Barry Island.
The 15 year-old was assaulted near the car park on Paget Road at around 7.30pm on Tuesday evening.
Police have described it as a "cowardly and vicious attack...which could have ended far worse" - they're appealing for witnesses or any drivers with dashcam footage to come forward.
Footage of the incident has also emerged on social media, which is being examined as part of the investigation.
DI Philip Marchant of Barry CID said: "What happened (on) Tuesday night in a popular public space will have left people shocked and concerned."
"We have footage which emerged online and are checking CCTV cameras. Officers are also patrolling the area during the busy summer months.”
