The Vale of Glamorgan has been named one of the top three areas of Wales to retire, according to new research.
Legal and General said its findings were based on factors that most influence happiness and wellbeing in later life.
Monmouthshire was top of the list, followed by the Dwyfor Meirionydd area of Gwynedd - but the Cardiff South and Penarth area fared badly, coming 19th in the top 20.
The rankings, based on the Welsh constituencies at Westminster, were decided on six key areas - health, finances, housing, community, access to nature and local amenities.
The Vale constituency scored highly in terms of community and finance, with a total index score of 48.
Cardiff South and Penarth recorded high scores for finance and amenities, but fared poorly in terms of housing, community and nature - leading to an index score of 41.
The research also shows that income remains a key factor in later-life wellbeing, with only 38% of retirees currently receiving the £1,700 per month linked to the highest happiness levels in retirement.
