Vale of Glamorgan MP Kanishka Narayan has told the Commons how he was inspired by 'Uncle Bryn' from Gavin and Stacey.
The Labour MP said he had been affected on a personal level by Rob Brydon's character in the sitcom, praising his "heart and humour".
He told fellow MPs that his "driving down the M4 blasting James Blunt songs" has been a "personal inspiration to me, each time I leave this esteemed chamber for the even more esteemed comfort of Barrybados".
Mr Narayan was making his maiden speech at Westminster following his election in July, outseating the Conservatives' Alun Cairns after fourteen years.
He paid tribute to his predecessor, saying the former Welsh Secretary had "served his constituency with sincerity".
Mr Narayan, the first Welsh MP from an ethnic minority background, said his twin ambition was "greater prosperity and...a deeper bond of dignity", but warned the Vale was a deprived area where a lack of money has threatened the dignity of the community.
He said: "Money doesn't buy most things in life...it doesn't solve most of our problems...but its absence, the deprivation entrenched over the last decade, is the root of many of us."
The MP went onto explain how his ambition was born "not just out of political slogan or political theory, but out of a history of personal gratitude", referring to his upbringing in South Wales with his brother.
