Detectives are hunting arsonists following a spate of attacks on vehicles in the Dinas Powys and Wenvoe areas.
Four vehicles were set alight deliberately at sometime between 1.50am and 2.10am last Saturday morning (21st November).
Two of the targeted vehicles were on Stacey Road in Dinas Powys and a third was on nearby Cross Common Road.
A fourth vehicle fire was started deliberately on St Andrews Road in Wenvoe.
Police said one of the vehicles in Dinas Powys had belonged to a woman who died just two days earlier.
Detective Sergeant Dave Nugent from South Wales Police said: "Being a victim of car crime at any time is upsetting, costly and an inconvenience."
"But to happen so close to Christmas, particularly for the gentleman who is still grieving the loss of his wife, is particularly devastating."
"This is very unusual for the area, and we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward."
Anyone with information about the arson attacks should contact South Wales Police on 101 or use the live webchat, quoting reference no. 2400420523.
Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
