An air cadet instructor and a dance teacher were among the winners of this year's Bryan Foley Awards in Barry.
The Barry Town Council event, which was founded in 2021, recognises local volunteers who make an outstanding contribution to their community.
Geoff Horton, who has volunteered at 372 Barry Squadron since 1986, was named the Community Champion of the Year, while Dionne McCarthy from Motion Control Dance won the new Young Person's Award.
Judges said the standard of nominations this year was so high that they also presented two Highly Commended awards to Motion Control Dance volunteer Lara Ward and the chair of governors at Cadoxton Primary School, MeganMerrett.
Mayor of Barry, Cllr Dennis Clarke, was among the invited guests at the ceremony on Thursday night, which also included live performances from the winners of Bro Radio's 'Search for a Star' competition, Finn Davies and Izzy Hornsey.
The Bryan Foley Awards were created to commenorate prolific local volunteer Bryan Foley, who died suddenly in 2021 at the age of 58.
His daughter Emma helped to decide the winners when judges held a meeting in April.
The new Young Person's Award was added as part of Barry Town Council's 50th anniversary celebrations.
