Two lifeboats from Penarth were called out to help a yacht which ran aground in the Bristol Channel.
The yacht was said to be taking on water when the RNLI's Atlantic 85 lifeboat, the Maureen Lilian, was launched at around 6.45pm on Sunday evening.
The D-class lifeboat, Spirit of Penarth II, was also sent out as a precaution in case it was needed to get closer in to assist.
But when the lifeboats arrived, the RNLI at Portishead had already made contact and helped the yacht to reafloat.
It later headed towards Cardiff Bay with a volunteer crew from Penarth alongside until the yacht's skipper and the Penarth helm agreed it was safe to continue unaided.
