Keenan Patten has returned to Barry Town United on loan until the end of the season.
The ex-Wales youth international spent two years at Jenner Park, scoring eleven goals in 50 appearances, before moving to Newport County on an 18-month deal last February.
The midfielder made six appearances for the League Two club - but Patten's career progress was hampered when he broke his leg during a pre-season friendly against Bristol City in July
Now, after six months on the sidelines, Patten has returned to fitness and will return to Barry to see out his Exiles contract in an effort to gain regular competitive action to aid his comeback.
An Exiles spokesperson said: "The loan provides an opportunity for him to build match sharpness and regain consistency at a high level."
"Everyone at Newport County wishes Keenan the very best during his loan spell and looks forward to monitoring his progress over the remainder of the season."

Meanwhile, a new deadline day arrival at Jenner Park is midfielder Jac Norris, who joins on loan from Newport until the end of the season.
The 19 year-old already has Cymru Premier experience, having spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Llanelli Town, where he scored two goals in 20 appearances.
As per his County teammate, Norris - who has made three Exiles appearances - will also be seeking regular first team minutes as he develops his career in the top flight of Welsh football.
Barry's January transfer window also saw the return of midfielder Theo Wharton on an 18-month deal while defender Callum Huggins has been sent out on loan with Ardal South West club Cardiff Airport, who groundshare at Jenner.

Llantwit Major's main moves in the January window included the signing of ex-Treowen Stars goalkeeper Shaun Gardiner and the return of title-winning defender Kris Evans, who scored the equaliser in their 1-1 draw at Carmarthen Town in the Cymru South on Friday night.
Former keeper Kane Draper has joined West Wales Premier League club Mumbles Rangers since leaving Windmill Lane while winger Cian Goldsworthy has moved to Pencoed for the rest of the season, as he works his way back from injury.
Three Llantwit players remained committed to the club with Jack Bevan, Cameron Gauci and Sean Williams all turning down approaches from elsewhere.
