Llantwit Major began their final stretch in the Cymru South season with a 1-0 defeat at Cambrian United on Friday night.
Major returned to action for the first time since Ben Stait was named the league's manager of the month for February.
United went ahead on 42 minutes with what turned out to be the only goal of the game from Josh Allen, with Danny Birch providing the assist.
Llantwit carved out more chances in the second half with keeper Ryley Allen making some crucial saves to deny the hosts from extending their lead.
But Major missed the chance to grab a late point in stoppage time when Ioan Emmanuel missed from the penalty spot.
Llantwit dropped to seventh in the table following back-to-back defeats, as they aim to finish the season as high up as possible.
There are just three games to go, starting with a visit to Newport City next Friday night.
