A former Welsh Conservative leader has reiterated calls for an urgent review into safety on the A48.
Three men were killed when a Ford Puma car hit a Scania tipper lorry near Bonvilston earlier this month..
In the Senedd on Tuesday, Andrew RT Davies said ten people had died on the stretch of road between Culverhouse Cross and Waterton in the last five years.
He called for a full engineering review to take place in light of "repeated reconfigurations" of the road over the last 30 years.
The South Wales Central MS said: "There have been 17 new road traffic lights put in, there have been two new roundabouts installed, many new junctions, and the road as was originally constructed is now unrecognisable."
"With those sorts of tragic fatalities on that piece of road, it is vital that the department undertakes a piece of work that looks into the engineering safety aspects of it."
In response, the Welsh Government's chief whip Jane Hutt said she had raised the most recent collision herself as Labour MS for the Vale of Glamorgan.
She added it was something which had to be looked at through the Welsh Government, the local authority (Vale of Glamorgan Council) and community engagement.
Mr RT Davies later added: "The A48 has seen too many tragedies – it's time for Labour Senedd ministers to act."
"This stretch of road is no longer fit for purpose and needs a full safety review without delay. Communities along this route deserve answers and urgent improvements."
A South Wales Police investigation into the Bonvilston collision is continuing and the inquest is due to resume at a later date.
