South Wales Police have confirmed that a 31‑year‑old woman from Barry has died following an incident at a property in Langham Way, Leckwith, on Saturday, 1 August.
Officers were called to the address after reports that two women had been assaulted. Both were taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
One of the women later died from her injuries, while the second has since been discharged. Police say the woman’s next of kin have been informed.
A man was arrested at the scene.
Police have named Daniel McCarthy, 40, from Leckwith, as the man charged in connection with the incident.
He faces two counts of assault and failing to stop a vehicle when required to do so by police. He was due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, 5 August).
South Wales Police say an investigation is ongoing.
