Residents across the Vale of Glamorgan can once again book free collections of leaves and fallen fruit from public land.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has reintroduced the service, with residents able to book collections until 30 November.
The scheme allows residents to arrange for leaves and windfall fruit gathered from public areas to be collected by the Council.
Residents who already subscribe to the paid garden waste service can continue placing leaves and windfall fruit in their garden waste bags on their usual collection day until 27 November.
From 30 November, garden waste collections will instead be available for subscribers to book.
Community groups and residents planning larger-scale street sweeps can also contact the Council at wwgeneralenquiries@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk to discuss collection arrangements.
Residents can book a leaf and windfall collection, while further information about garden waste collections is available on the Council's website
Cllr Mark Wilson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood and Building Services said “After past success of this service, we are delighted to reintroduce it as we know how successful it has been in the past.
“There is a lot of ground to cover in the Vale, so services like this are integral to ensuring our areas stay clean.
“Making it as accessible as possible to each Vale resident is at the core of the service, therefore we hope it helps communities across the county clear their areas, regardless of whether they have a garden waste subscription.
“During autumn and winter, leaves can build up around gullies and drainage systems, potentially causing blockages and preventing rainwater from draining away effectively. By clearing this windfall, we can help reduce the risk of blocked drains and surface water flooding, while keeping our neighbourhoods safer and more accessible.”
