Legacy Leisure has invested £120,000 in new gym equipment at Penarth Leisure Centre.
The investment has seen new EGYM equipment installed at the centre, which is operated by Legacy Leisure on behalf of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, which has welcomed the investment in facilities.
The equipment is now available for members to use and includes technology designed to personalise strength and flexibility workouts based on individual users.
Members are provided with a wristband that can automatically configure settings on compatible machines, including seat positions and target weights.
The equipment can also guide users through a full-body strength circuit, which takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
Interactive screens provide feedback on areas including movement speed, range of motion and exercise technique, while the system can track users' progress over time.
Regular strength assessments are used to adjust workout settings as users progress, while additional training options are available for more experienced gym users.
The £120,000 investment forms part of ongoing changes to facilities at Penarth Leisure Centre and is intended to provide additional strength and fitness options for people with a range of experience levels.
Rachel Bowden, Centre Manager at Penarth Leisure Centre for Legacy Leisure, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to bring this £120,000 state-of-the-art EGYM investment to Penarth Leisure Centre. The upgrade brings world-class, intelligent fitness technology right to the doorstep of Penarth residents. Whether you are stepping into a gym for the very first time or are a seasoned athlete, the new EGYM equipment adapts completely to you.
“By removing the guesswork from strength training with automated setups and personalised tracking, this new smart equipment makes working out smoother, smarter, and more rewarding than ever.
“In just the first three weeks of launching, we have already onboarded over 1,000 people to the EGYM software, and all the kit has been used over 4,100 times. The feedback from our community has already been fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome even more local residents through our doors to try it out.”
