Cardiff Airport

Cardiff Airport is introducing more ski package holidays and flights to the Eastern Alps from next winter.

TUI Airways will begin weekly flights to Salzburg every Saturday from just before Christmas until early March 2026.

It will be the first time the Rhoose airport has run direct flights to the Austrian city in more than 30 years.

Crystal Ski Holidays says the new route follows on the success of regular flights to the French Alpine town of Chambéry which began in September.

Lee Smith, Cardiff Airport's head of business development, said: "This is the second new ski route we have announced in 12 months. The last time we had a Salzburg flight was 32 years ago in winter 1993/94, operated by the then Britannia Airways."

"Demand for ski holiday flights from Cardiff is high, with the Chambéry route performing extremely well. I want to thank our teams for working hard to secure this exciting new route and we look forward to the launch."

The weekly flights to Salzburg, starting on Saturday 20th December, will offer access to 24 top ski resorts in the area, including St Johann, Schladming and Zell am See.

Scott Britton, head of commercial at Crystal Ski Holidays, added: "Providing our customers with even more choice when planning their ski holiday, services to Salzburg will commence on 20th December 2025 to twenty-four top ski resorts, including popular destinations such as Zell am See, Mayrhofen, and Kitzbühel."

"As a one-stop shop for ski holidays, here at Crystal we want to make it as easy as possible for customers when it comes to planning their next ski break, and offering destinations that are easily accessible is key to that."
