A new 15-year strategy has been set out for looking after the Vale's trees and woodlands.
The framework was drawn up by Vale of Glamorgan Council following a major public consultation carried out last year.
The council says it recognises trees as a vital part of the county's green infrastructure, helping to define the character of communities and enhance the area.
It also forms part of the local authority's efforts to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030.
A number of drop-in sessions will be held across the Vale to set out the new strategy to local residents.
Cllr Mark Wilson, cabinet member for neighbourhood services, said: "We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Vale’s new tree strategy for the next 15 years."
"This is not just about planting new trees – but it is a thoughtful plan around how we also protect and preserve our current tree stock as well as ensuring that the trees are in locations suited to their long-term health and environment."
“The council has declared both climate and nature emergencies in recent years, and the implementation of the new tree strategy is a key strand of our wider Project Zero work to protect the environment, enhance biodiversity across the Vale, and lower carbon emissions."
“We are also committed to improve tree canopy in urban areas and have started planting trees in these settings, and will continue to do where it is appropriate and feasible to do so.”
