Vale Council is asking residents for their views on what should be their main priorities for the next five years.
A public consultation will be held on the local authority's draft corporate plan, which sets out five key objectives under its vision of 'Strong Communities with a Bright Future':
- Creating Great Places to Live, Work and Visit
- Representing and Celebrating the Environment
- Giving Everyone a Good Start in Life
- Supporting and Protecting Those Who Need Us
- Being the Best Council We Can Be
Already the findings of a major residents survey called 'Let's Talk About Life in the Vale' have been used to inform the draft plan, along with findings from the council's annual self-assessment, which identified areas for improvement and changes.
The council says it wants to hear from anyone interested in setting its direction between 2025 and 2030 and beyond.
Council leader Lis Burnett insisted the authority was 'listening'.
She said:."This document presents the authority's vision for the next five years as we look to further strengthen and develop our communities."
"Residents are at the very centre of this process. This plan is designed to help us better deliver for the people of the Vale and their thoughts will be central to shaping it."
"Issues raised through engagement and consultation have played a major role in guiding work so far and the opinions of those living in our community will remain of paramount importance moving forwards."
Four in-person events will be held in the main centres of Barry, Penarth, Cowbridge and Llantwit Major, to gather residents views, while there are also plans to consult with specific groups.
An online survey will also be available as part of the consultation, which begins on Monday 14th October and runs through to December.
Rob Thomas, Vale Council chief executive, added: "We continue to face a number of significant challenges as a council."
"Through this draft plan, we aim to work with partners and our communities to address these difficulties together and meet the short and longer-term needs of the Vale of Glamorgan. In doing so, we will deliver strong communities with a bright future."
The final Corporate Plan is expected to be published next Spring - with progress on its actions and outcomes being monitored throughout the five year period.
