A driver has been arrested during overnight road patrols by police in Llantwit Major.
South Wales Police said one of its teams spotted a stolen car on false plates in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The driver failed to stop for the roads policing officers and fled the scene after coming to an abrupt halt in the town.
But the force seized the vehicle and warned the motorist can expect a knock on their door "sometime very soon" - an investigation is ongoing.
Shortly afterwards, officers spotted another suspicious car which was tracked down following a short pursuit.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence and possession of drugs and had their vehicle seized.
A South Wales Police spokesperson apologised to local residents for "all the noise and flashing blue lights" but added: "sometimes, it's necessary to keep our roads safe and to tackle vehicle crime."
