An investigation is underway after an early morning fire which gutted a clubhouse in Penarth.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) said three crews were called out to the Athletic Ground on Lavernock Road shortly before 5am on Monday.
They found the roof was well alight and the fire took nearly three hours to extinguish.
The building is home to Penarth RFC, Penarth Cricket and Penarth Hockey Clubs, as well as being a hub for local community events and groups.
Penarth Athletic Club confirmed there had been significant damage to the clubhouse and an investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
A recovery plan is also being developed to minimise disruption for the clubs, supporters and visitors.
Co-club chairs Gareth Hubback and David Carter said: "We are tremendously grateful for the swift response of the fire and rescue service and for the support from our local community at this time."
"We will work hard to recover as quickly as possible. In the meantime, we will provide further information as it becomes available."

Penarth RFC said no one was hurt but the club is in a "state of shock" and pledged to rebuild along with the town's cricket and hockey clubs.
A spokesperson for the rugby club said the clubhouse was "such a hub of the community for so many people of all ages."
"So many memories have been lost but thankfully no one was hurt."
The club thanked fire crews "for their quick response and efforts", adding "Penarth Rugby, Penarth Cricket and Penarth Hockey will all come together and we will rebuild".

A Fire Service spokesperson told Bro Radio News: "SWFRS received a call at approximately 04.59 am to reports of a fire at Penarth rugby and football club. The roof was well alight, and the building has been severely damaged. The cause is currently under investigation."
"Crews and appliances from Penarth, Barry and Cardiff Central attended and extinguished the fire using hose reel, 45mm jets and breathing apparatus. The stop message was given at around 7.50am."
Rugby clubs from across the Vale have offered messages of support to Penarth RFC, who are currently top of Division One East Central in the Admiral League.
An online crowdfunder to help rebuild the clubhouse has already raised £1,075 as of 2pm on Monday.
