A Barry woman is up for a top volunteers' award for her work with disadvantaged children.
It's five years since Carmen Soraya Kelly set up her own charity, The Gloves Are On, offering help to young people and their families facing sensitive issues.
She's now been nominated for Volunteer of the Year at the Wales Charity Awards, being held at the National Museum in Cardiff on Monday night.
Judges have described Soraya as a "powerful force for positive change in her community".
She has provided essential resources and transformative programmes such as Unite4Youth, which offer mentoring and paid work placements - often leading to permanent employment.
Soraya is also a keen promoter of social justice and helps to shape employability programmes and ensure access to healthcare resources.
She said: "United we are standing in our fight to make a difference through a joined up approach; better outcomes will prevail and more lives will be saved or enhanced."
"I'm delighted to be nominated at this year's Welsh Charity Awards, as it offers an opportunity for us to draw attention to the work of the charity, which will hopefully inspire others to join us or to make a difference in their own communities."
Soraya is nominated alongside Hazel Lim, who works with the Chinese Autism Community Interest Company, and Matthew Steele, a volunteer with Mixtup - a youth club for people with mixed abilities.
Actor Michael Sheen will be among those attending the ceremony organised by the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) and hosted by BBC Wales Today anchor Jennifer Jones.
WCVA chief executive Lindsay Cordery-Bruce said: "We're delighted to have had a record number of nominations this year – 239 in total. That's testimony to the quality work undertaken by volunteers, community groups and charities the length and breadth of our country."
"I couldn't be more excited to meet them on 25 November at National Museum Cardiff – and find out who's scooped the top awards."
