RNLI volunteers based in Penarth have been honoured with awards and medals during a visit from the High Sheriff of South Glamorgan.
Janey Howell joined a gathering of crew members at the Penarth Yacht Club on Tuesday night to present medals marking the coronation of King Charles III and awards for commendation and long service.
The High Sheriff, a non-political and independent role, supports the Royal Family, the judiciary, police and emergency services and the community.
But they're also heavily involved with activities which mirror those of voluntary organisations such as the RNLI, which is marking its 200th anniversary year.
Mrs Howell, who took up the role in March, said: "I have the opportunity to meet many people in Cardiff and the Vale that make up the county of South Glamorgan."
"I am very much looking forward to working with the different communities and charities and learning about their successes and the difficulties they have experienced."

23 volunteers from Penarth were among 4,500 frontline RNLI volunteers and staff awarded coronation medals.
Two further awards went to crew members who were involved in rescues on Boxing Day 2023 and 10th March 2024.
A letter marking the honours noted that "the quality of care delivered was a testament to training on the station and key factor to the survival of the casualty."

Another crew member, James Lock, celebrated his 50th anniversary with the RNLI with a special long-service award.
He told fellow volunteers that it was a privilege to be a volunteer member of the charity and thanked his wife Wendy who had given him 100% support and avidly encouraged him to go down to the station.
"Don't ask me why", he added.
Jason Dunlop, operations manager at RNLI Penarth, said: "We thank the High Sheriff for giving up her time joining us to acknowledge this moment in our 200-year history of the RNLI."
"Receiving this award was a real honour and I’m so proud to stand alongside the other recipients and the rest of Penarth RNLI - as one crew, who all do a fantastic job in their volunteer roles and give up so much time to this unique charity."
