The Cardiff-based charity is sharing the story of Mitchell, as it looks to give every child the warm, stability and security of a place to call home this Christmas.
This Christmas, Llamau is calling on the Welsh community to help give every child the warmth, stability, and security of a place to call home.
With the launch of this Christmas campaign, the charity is asking for support to ensure that no child faces the holiday cold, hungry, or alone.
Imagine waking up on Christmas morning, surrounded by fear and uncertainty, without the comfort of a safe and warm place to stay. For many children facing homelessness, the festive season is a painful reminder of what they are missing—simple comforts like warmth, stability, and safety.
“Be the reason a child is safe and warm this Christmas,” is a powerful call to action. Donations made through this campaign will directly support children and young people in Llamau’s care, helping us provide safe accommodation, hot meals, and compassionate support for those in need.
Mitchell’s story: a journey from homelessness to hope
At just 15, Mitchell found himself facing the harsh reality of homelessness. After battling mental health struggles and family upheaval, he reached out to Llamau as a last resort. With Llamau’s support, Mitchell found safe lodgings and received the life skills and emotional care he needed to rebuild his life.
Today, he lives independently, holds a steady job, and serves as a Llamau Ambassador, sharing his story to remind others that there is hope. “You do make a difference,”
Mitchell recently told Llamau’s team. “When I was receiving support, it was challenging and wrapped up in my own chaos. But now I’m here to tell you that you really do make a difference.”
This year, a donation of:
- £25 could provide essential toiletries for five children moving into a Llamau home, helping them feel clean and comfortable.
- £30 could cover the cost of a warm meal for all the children in one of our homes, creating a special holiday moment they would otherwise miss.
- £98 could support a child for one day in a warm, safe, and fully supported Llamau home.
The impact of Llamau’s work is felt not just at Christmas, but throughout the year, as children and young people like Mitchell find hope, stability, and a brighter future.
