A modernised version of a classic 1950s van is set to be built in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Morris Commercial says it will create 150 jobs at a new production site at Bro Tathan, after receiving financial support from the Welsh Government.
The new all-electric Morris JE, inspired by the former J-type van, is due to be fully launched next year.
Dr Qu Li, Morris Commercial's chief executive, said: "We are excited to have our Morris JE volume production facility in Bro Tathan soon. This will enable us to start to deliver vehicles to long waited customers. We thank the Welsh Government for its support."
Once a popular sight on roads across the UK, the new Morris JE will retain some of the J-type's original features and have a 250-mile range.
Morris expects its new carbon neutral model to rival the likes of the Ford Transit Custom, the Vauxhall Vivaro and the VW ID Buzz.
The Bro Tathan plant will also be the first dedicated facility in Wales for manufacturing electric vehicles.
Economy Secretary, Rebecca Evans, said: "With our innovative landscape and support for low carbon concepts, Wales is a natural home for the Morris JE."
"This exciting project will benefit from the robust automotive sector and supply chain cluster we are developing here in Wales. Well-paid jobs will also be created for skilled workers as the company delivers this historic retro van into the electric vehicle era."
The Morris announcement comes in the wake of ongoing uncertainty at Aston Martin, with unconfirmed reports that around a hundred jobs will go at its manufacturing plant in St Athan.
A staff consultation is continuing - with the luxury carmaker confirming it "is taking further steps to strengthen its overall position" amid global economic pressures, including the impact of US tariffs and weak demand from China.
Vale of Glamorgan MS Jane Hutt told Bro Radio's 'The Vale This Week' programme: "It's a really important part of the Welsh economy."
"But then, understanding that thre are real challenges in the company and that this could result in reducing their workforce at Bro Tathan."
"There is a concern that's been raised by the company about the impact of the US trade tarriffs...as they are adversely affecting production on the sales volume of car manufacturing, and also a slow down in the Chinese market."
