Vale Council has condemned vandals who snapped six young trees in a Barry park.
Enforcement officers say it will cost around £3,000 to repair the damage in Pencoedtre Park which occurred earlier this month.
Police say it happened at some time between 6pm on Saturday 17th August and 9am on Monday 19th August.
According to the council, the trees had been growing over the course of ten years when they were targeted.
They tweeted: "Our parks team work hard to ensure communities have well kept spaces for all to enjoy."
"Unfortunately, after over ten years growing, six young trees were vandalised recently in Pencoedtre Park."
"As well as costing the council £3000, at a time when local authorities face challenging financial situations, over ten years of care and growth now amount to nothing."
Anyone with information about the vandalism should contact South Wales Police on 101, quoting reference no. 240078596.
