One of Stanwell School's most familiar and respected faces has retired, bringing to a close an extraordinary career that has left a lasting impact on thousands of young people.
David Rowles has spent more than three decades at Stanwell School in Penarth, becoming a much-loved member of staff whose passion, commitment and support for students have earned him the respect of colleagues, pupils and parents alike.
Throughout his career, Dave (Mr Rowles) has witnessed significant changes in education, teaching generations of students who have gone on to successful careers beyond the classroom. His natural ability to encourage, inspire and bring out the best in those around him has made him a memorable figure within the school community.
Known for his approachable nature, sense of humour and dedication to helping every student reach their potential, Dave has been much more than a teacher. For many, he has been a mentor, role model and trusted source of advice throughout their time at Stanwell.
Dave's wife Jayne, posted on Facebook about his retirement which has led to over 100 comments with staff and pupils, past and present wishing him the best for the future and thank him for his years of service.
Amongst the comments was one from Dave himself which reads
"A strange day today. Just spent an hour reading all the comments in my book and the many cards I received. Feeling humbled but lucky to have so many friends. I just want to say a massive thanks to you all, have a great summer and to my teacher friends make the most of the next 6 weeks they will be gone before you know it
