A new programme of community litter picks has been announced for the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, with volunteers invited to help protect some of the Vale’s most popular beaches and coastal paths over the coming months.

Friends of the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, working alongside Surfers Against Sewage’s Million Mile Clean campaign, will host a series of organised clean‑ups from late August through January. The sessions are open to all ages and abilities, with equipment provided for anyone who wants to take part.

Organisers say the events offer a chance to meet new people, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute directly to the health of the coastline. Volunteers are encouraged to wear suitable footwear and dress for the weather.

Upcoming Coastal Litter Pick Dates

  • Southerndown Beach Saturday 29 August, 11am–12pm

  • Llantwit Major Beach Sunday 27 September, 11am–12pm

  • Ogmore Beach Saturday 17 October, 2pm–3pm

  • Gileston Beach Saturday 21 November, 10am–11am

  • Southerndown Beach Saturday 12 December, 10:30am–11:30am

  • Llantwit Major Coastal Path Saturday 9 January, 10am–11am

Organisers say every piece of litter collected helps reduce pollution, protect wildlife, and keep the Heritage Coast looking its best.
