Barry Island business founder Russell Pearce has been named a finalist in the 2026 Allica Bank Great British Entrepreneur Awards, earning a place on the national shortlist in the Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year category.
Pearce, who founded Grove Autocare, is one of just 740 entrepreneurs shortlisted from more than 5,000 applications across the UK. The awards – often described as the “Grammys of entrepreneurship” – celebrate the people behind successful and resilient businesses, recognising innovation, ambition and long-term impact.
Past winners include the founders of Simmer Eats, Grenade, ClearScore, Zilch and Unbiased, many of whom were recognised early in their business journeys.
This year’s finalists collectively represent £3.3bn in turnover, support more than 17,700 jobs and span every UK nation and region. Forty per cent of shortlisted businesses are women-led, and half already sell overseas.
Russell Pearce, founder of Grove Autocare, said: “Being named a finalist is a proud moment because Grove Autocare was not built overnight, and it was not built from theory. It was built on forecourts, on standards, on turning up when customers needed us, and on proving ourselves site by site.
I started in this industry understanding the job from the ground up, so I know the difference reliable vehicle preparation makes to a dealership. It affects the way cars are presented, the confidence of the sales team, the customer experience and ultimately the reputation of the brand.
What I am most proud of is that Grove Autocare has grown while staying close to those values. We have built a business around people, consistency, accountability and service. To be recognised as a finalist is a huge honour, but it is also a reflection of the team behind the business and the standards they deliver every day.”
Grove Autocare has grown into a national vehicle preparation and valeting provider, supporting dealerships, preparation centres and dealer groups across the UK. The business has developed a management-led operational model with regular site visits, quality audits and performance monitoring, giving customers greater confidence in consistency and standards.
The company has also built long-term partnerships with major automotive brands, focusing on reliability, accountability and high-quality vehicle presentation. Grove Autocare previously won the Accelerated Growth Business Entrepreneur Award just two years after launching.
