Boofys, which has been serving customers on Barry Island for almost 25 years, is set to close in January.
In a post shared on Facebook on Tuesday, the popular fish & chip shop, which is known as a favourite of the Gavin and Stacey cast, said it would close for good from around January 6th 2026.
In a statement, Boofys said, "It's been a whirlwind 25 years of mine, and my family's life, and it's time to hang up my boots.I would like to thank you all for visiting us. Eating with us and generally being part of our family."
"I also would like to thank my current staff.. Past staff and everyone involved in the 25-year history of Boofys"
The popular chip shop, based under the Western Shelter, will be open from 19th December to 23rd, closed from 24th to 26th and then open daily from 27th December to 4th January 2026.
