Stanwell School pupils have raised over £2,000 for Penarth's lifeboat station.
The school's charity committee held two fundraisers for their chosen charity, the RNLI, which is celebrating its 200th anniversary.
A dress down day during the summer term raised just over £1500 with a sponsored staff car wash adding another £500 to their total.
The money will go towards buying a complete set of kit for a new recruit, who is currently training to become a fully qualified member of the lifeboat crew.
The RNLI in Penarth has itself set a fundraising target of £20,000 as part of the anniversary commemorations.
Chairman Laurie Pavelin said: "It is so special to get this engagement with Stanwell’s young adults, we have plans to continue the RNLI 200 celebrations throughout 2024, marking this special moment in history and hoping to inspire the next generation of lifesavers."
As a thank you, sixth form students and committee members from Stanwell were given a tour of the lifeboat station after presenting a cheque to Mr Pavelin.
