Two women have died and a man is critically ill following a serious road collision on Port Road in Barry.
Two men were taken to hospital following the RTC on the A4050 at around 1.40pm on Saturday lunchtime.
Both women were pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed both ways for nearly ten hours between the junctions with Port Road East and the Barry Dock Link Road, near to Pugh's Garden Centre.
The collision led to long tailbacks for several hours with motorists being urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.
The road has since reopened, but police say they are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision - and they want to hear from anyone who saw a grey Audi RS4 car in the area at the time.
Sergeant Craig Wood from South Wales Police said: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family of the two women who have died in this collision."
“We are in the early stages of our investigation and are still trying to establish the full circumstances."
“I am appealing to anybody who was driving in the area between 1.30pm and 1.50pm today and has any information that can assist this investigation to please get in touch with us."
"If you have dash-cam in your vehicles I would also ask you to contact us. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who can give us extra detail on the manner of driving of a grey Audi RS 4 prior to the collision."
“I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding whilst we conduct inquiries at the scene."
Anyone with information should contact South Wales Police on 101 or use the live web chat, quoting reference no.2400365249.
