This year’s Vale Food Trail has wrapped up with strong support from residents, visitors and local businesses, attracting more than 1,500 people to events across the Vale of Glamorgan.
Held from 24 May to 7 June, the two‑week programme highlighted the strength and diversity of the Vale’s food and drink sector. A total of 32 events took place at farms, cafés, restaurants, markets and independent venues throughout the county.
Around 30 businesses were directly involved, with many others backing the trail through wider community events, including Cowbridge Farmers Market. Together, they delivered a varied line‑up designed to connect people with local producers, seasonal ingredients and sustainable food practices.
Activities ranged from farm tours and tasting sessions to workshops, open days and special menus, giving visitors the chance to learn more about where their food comes from while supporting local enterprises.
Businesses reported several benefits from taking part, including increased visibility, stronger community links and opportunities to reach new customers.
Louise Denham, Food Vale Co‑ordinator, said: “The success of this year’s Vale Food Trail reflects the enthusiasm and generosity of our local food businesses. With more businesses taking part and so many choosing to collaborate, support and shine a light on one another, it’s been wonderful to see such a strong and connected food community in action.”
The Vale Food Trail is delivered by Food Vale, Vale of Glamorgan Council, Visit the Vale and Cywain, who work together to support a thriving and sustainable food and drink sector across the region.
