The Channel 5 programme is available to stream now on My 5.
The Barry War Museum & Heritage Centre proved a welcome hit in TV reality show ‘Rich holiday, poor holiday’.
The Channel 5 series saw the affluent family Michael and Elisabeth Smith from Derbyshire take a budget break in the Vale of Glamorgan, staying at Fontygary Leisure Park.
A highlight of their trip was a visit to the museum based at Barry Island station, where museum volunteer Alun Robertson provided a historical tour highlighting Barry’s wartime story and fight against fascism, where the family were able to hold historic objects and immerse themselves in the exhibits ranging from a World War I trench to a 1940s kitchen.

Barry’s only Museum offers a programme of free historical talks on local and military history is run by a community of volunteers. It has a Trip Advisor rating of 5.0 - the highest rating by any local tourist attraction.
The Museum runs a schools visit programme offering an ‘evacuee experience’, telling the story of how children escaped the Nazi bombing of their homes with war-time re-enactors bringing alive its lessons.
Commenting on the TV show, the Museum's Chairperson John Buxton said "The programme provided great publicity for the museum and we're very proud of our volunteers for bringing alive our story to visitors."
