A runner has died after taking part in the Cardiff Half Marathon.
Organisers say the participant reached the finish line of the 13-mile race on Sunday, where they were immediately attended to by the medical emergency team.
They were taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, but later passed away.
A spokesman for Run 4 Wales said: “This is a terrible tragedy and our deepest sympathies go out to the runner’s family."
“In respect for the participant’s family at this difficult time, no further details will be released.”
A record field of over 29,000 runners took part in this year's half-marathon, described as the biggest ever in the race's 21-year history.
In 2019, 35 year-old Nicholas Beckley, a council planning officer, died in hospital after he collapsed at the finish line.
The year before, two men - Ben McDonald (25) from Cardiff and Dean Fletcher (32) from Exeter - also died after completing the race.
