Following the conclusion of the season, Barry Town United player Robbie Wilmott has announced his decision to retire from Football.
The announcement follows Barry Town losing to Haverfordwest County in the European Play Off Semi-Final on Sunday, in front of a crowd of 2,112.
Robbie joined Barry in the summer of 2024, making 74 appearances for the club, including four goals. Most recently, Robbie walked the team out as Captain on the day of their Nathaniel MG Cup Final, which they went on to win 2 - 0 against the New Saints.
Robbie has had a distinguished career with over 300 EFL appearances, alongside multiple playoff and FA Cup experiences.
In a statement, a club spokesperson said, "It’s been a pleasure to have Robbie and his family at our club and we wish him all the best in his new role. You will always be welcome at Jenner Park"
Fans quickly shared praise for Robbie following the news, with one stating "Big loss in that midfield" Top player and such a gent" whilst another said "A class footballer. Always enjoyed watching him play"
