A man has been charged following an incident in Park Road, near Porthkerry Country Park on Monday night.
Police were called to reports that a person had been assaulted and of "loud bangs" like gunshots.
On Tuesday, Police confirmed that two people had been arrested following the incident.
Now, South Wales Police say enquiries are continuing to identify any victims, but as yet none have been identified.
Dominic Bily, 18, from Llanrumney in Cardiff, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
He appeared at Cardiff Magistrates Court on Wednesday and has been remanded in custody.
