Visitors to Jackson’s Bay have been urged to take extra care after a rockfall was reported at the popular Barry Beach on Monday morning.
A Vale of Glamorgan Council spokesperson said teams were sent to the scene shortly after the incident was reported and are now carrying out a full assessment of the affected area.
In a statement, the spokesperson said: “Our teams were notified of a rockfall at Jackson’s Bay this afternoon and are currently on site carrying out a full assessment. Rockfalls are not uncommon at cliff-backed beaches, particularly following periods of extreme weather."
"While these checks are taking place, we ask visitors to take extra care, stay away from the cliffs, and follow any safety signage in place at the site."
"If you're planning a seaside visit this sunny Monday evening, you may wish to enjoy one of the Vale’s other beaches while our teams continue their assessment.”
The council has not yet confirmed when the area will fully reopen but said further updates will be provided once the inspection is complete.
