A drug dealer from Cardiff who tried to escape from police in Barry has been jailed.
Police found a haul of cocaine and over £1600 in cash in Nathaniel Cummings' car in June 2024.
Cardiff Crown Court heard officers had stopped Cummings' BMW 1-series car for a routine check on Palmerston Road.
When the officers left their patrol car, the 21 year-old drove deliberately at them, narrowly avoiding them before he sped off.
A short pursuit through Barry ended when Cummings and his two passengers fled the car and tried to hide in a nearby hedge.
They were arrested soon afterwards with the aid of the South Wales Police helicopter and dog units.
Officers found 24 seal bags of cocaine in Cummings' vehicle with the cash stored in the central armrest.
Last month, Cummings, of Adamsdown, Cardiff, admitted dangerous driving, possessing cocaine with intent to supply and possessing criminal property.
He was sentenced to three years and four months in prison and banned from driving for a year.
Following sentencing on Thursday, DC Gaby Pughsley of South Wales Police said: "Nathaniel Cummings showed complete disregard for the safety of other road users and our officers during the pursuit. Driving in such a manner can have disastrous consequences."
"I hope this sentence sends out a strong message, that it is never acceptable to drive in such a manner and that we are always on patrol and could be anywhere."
