Two housing projects in the Vale have secured extra funding from the Welsh Government.
14 new one-bedroom apartments are set to be built at the site of the Grade II-listed Cowbridge Police Station on Westgate, aimed specificially at the over 55s.
A further 18 homes are planned as part of the East Haven scheme on Barry's waterfront.
They're among 16 projects across Wales that will share an additional £10 million earmarked for acquiring properties and land to develop and complete the affordable housing schemes.
They'll also share around £30 million from the social housing grant in next year's draft budget.
Housing Secretary Jayne Bryant said: "I am delighted that we have secured this additional in-year funding to invest in good quality affordable housing, providing opportunity for individuals and families across Wales."
“We know that investing in social housing reduces poverty, improves health and helps drive economic growth and I recognise the need for the delivery of more homes now and into the future."
“This is why I'm also making the additional budget awarded in 2025-26 available to be used across both the Social Housing Grant and Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme (TACP).”
The Welsh Government says the funding will ultimately contribute to its target of 20,000 new low-carbon social homes - available for rent in the social sector - during the current Senedd term.
It will also support homes approved and started in the coming financial year (2025-26) and completed after the next Senedd elections.
Jayne Bryant, whose brief also includes local government, added: "Following the huge success of TACP, I am pleased to formally announce the 2025-26 TACP will reopen with an indicative allocation of £100m."
“We have listened to feedback on the first three years of delivery and this early announcement is intended to provide advance notification to the sector that the programme will be reopening for applications early in the new financial year.”
The plans for the former Cowbridge Police Station - which dates back to 1891 - also includes demolishing the former magistrates court, which was more recently used as Y Daith, the pupil referral unit.
