28% of GCSE students in the Vale of Glamorgan achieved A or A* grades this year.
Figures published by the county council on Thursday revealed 71.4% of entrants gained A* to C grades while 97.6% of learners received A* to G grades.
Across Wales, top grades are up slightly on last year - although the number of entries is down - ahead of major changes to qualifications.
From September, new GCSEs will be phased in to fit in with the Curriculum for Wales.
Cllr Rhiannon Birch, cabinet member for education at Vale of Glamorgan Council offered her "heartfelt congatulations to all learners across the Vale" who received their results.
She said: "Once again, we’ve seen an excellent set of results across our schools, reflecting the hard work, dedication, and resilience of our young people. They should be extremely proud of what they have achieved."
"It’s also important to acknowledge the vital role played by teachers and support staff. Their continued commitment and encouragement have been instrumental in helping learners reach their potential."
"I hope all learners take time to enjoy their success today and feel confident as they take their next steps, whether that’s further education, training, or employment."
In Cardiff, there was a slight increase in results on last year, which were also above pre-pandemic levels.
According to Cardiff Council, A*-G grades in the Welsh capital stood at 96.8%, which is up from 96.1% in 2024; A*- C grades are 68%, which is up from 67.4% last year; and A*-A grades are 26.4%, which is up from 26%.
