Nearly 82% of A Level students in the Vale earned A* to C grades ths year.
Figures published by Vale of Glamorgan Council reveal nearly a third of all students in the county achieved either an A* or A level grade, while 98.4% got grades ranging from A* to E.
It was a similar story for those taking A/S level exams with 26.8% of papers given A grades, 67.5% earning A to C grades and 90.7% achieving A to E grades.
The council said pupils from the Vale had once again shone in this year's exams.
Cllr Rhiannon Birch, cabinet member for education, said: "I’d like to pass on my best wishes to all students in the Vale who received their A and AS level results recently."
"Congratulations to the many who are celebrating after another excellent performance for the county. A lot of effort has gone into achieving this success, so I hope our sixth-form pupils enjoy their moment."
"A great deal of hard work is also put in by teachers and school staff, alongside support from parents, and these groups also deserve recognition at a time like this."
"I’d encourage pupils to savour their accomplishments, and whatever the next step is, I wish them every success for the future."
“Of course, not everyone will have received the results they wanted. For anyone in that position, support and information is available from the Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) and Careers Wales.”
