The RNLI's lifeguards at Whitmore Bay have resumed full-time patrols as the Bank Holiday weekend gets underway.
The lifeboat charity is extending the number of patrolled beaches across Wales during the half-term break.
But from Saturday, Whitmore Bay will be patrolled by its dedicated team each day from 10am-6pm until the end of the summer season in September.
The RNLI is once again advising visitors to choose a lifeguarded beach when visiting the coast.
Tom John, a lead lifeguard supervisor for Swansea, said: "There are plenty of lifeguarded beaches around Wales to choose from during half term. Remember to swim and bodyboard between the red and yellow flags, and surf, kayak or stand-up paddleboard between the black and white flags."
"The lifeguards position the flags in the safest area of the beach, if you see a red flag the lifeguards have deemed that area of the beach as unsafe – so do not enter the water."
"If you ever have any questions, feel free to approach the lifeguards who will be happy to help and can provide local beach safety advice for the conditions that day."
The Whitmore Bay lifeguard team will be appearing on Bro Radio over the season with a new weekly update on coastal conditions in the Vale, provided by the lifeboat stations at Barry Dock, Penarth and Porthcawl.
Every Friday during Vale Breakfast, they will be sharing key information such as tide times, wind and weather conditions along with essential safety tips such as the 'Float to Live' technique.
Chris Cousens, RNLI Water Safety Lead, said: "If you’re visiting the coast, remember to visit a lifeguarded beach. It's safest not to go into the water alone - the person you're with can help you stay safe and get help in the event of an emergency."
"If you unexpectedly find yourself in difficulty in the water, float to live. If you see anyone else in difficulty anywhere along the coast, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coastguard."
You can hear the RNLI weekly update on Vale Breakfast with Nathan Spackman every Friday morning from 7-10am or listen again anytime at broradio.fm and via the Bro Radio App.
