Barry Yacht Club have raised £1,245 for their local RNLI lifeboat station.
The club's relationship with the Barry Dock lifeboat station is being highlighted ahead of two key anniversaries next year.
Around £1,000 has been raised annually by yacht club members, who choose to make voluntary donations alongside their annual fees.
But beyond providing financial support, they have also helped with the practical side of lifesaving at sea - offering safe harbour to vessels and crews in Barry after being towed following callouts.
In 2026, the yacht club celebrates its centenary while the RNLI marks its 125th anniversary in Barry Dock.
Barry Yacht Club treasurer Howard Metcalfe is also a volunteer crew member. He said: "We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with the RNLI."
"Our members know the importance of the charity’s work first-hand, and we’re pleased to be able to offer both financial support and practical assistance whenever we can. As we approach 100 years of this relationship, it’s something the club is hugely proud of."
The club also regularly opens its doors to the lifeboat charity as a venue for crew nights, training sessions, charity events, BBQs and community gatherings.
In recent years, RNLI teams have delivered lifejacket checks and safety talks at the club, including sessions for paddleboarders and rowers.
At a practical level, the club also offers free access to the station for launch and recovery of the inshore D-class lifeboat when maintenance is required.
Olivia Harrison, chair of Barry Dock RNLI, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Barry Yacht Club for everything they do."
"The financial donations are hugely appreciated, but it’s also the ongoing practical support — from helping us bring vessels safely into harbour, to providing a base for training and community events, to opening their doors for safety talks — that makes a real difference."
"It’s a great example of how the local community works together to help save lives at sea."
